SAG Awards Beauty Looks for Beginner’s

I will be the first to admit that I am a beauty and makeup novice but I am always down to try something new. With the encouragement from a few of my favorite fellow plus size bloggers, I am recreating a SAG Awards beauty look from 2017 Nominee Sarah Paulson. In collaboration with these plus size bloggers, you can check out a whole range of different SAG Awards beauty looks such as Meaghan O’Connor of  recreating Emma Stone’s look from La La Land. I like watching the SAG Awards because there are nominees from both television and film. This year, the list features a few of personal favorites including Sarah Paulson in her nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries in The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. When this miniseries aired this summer, I was totally hooked. I remember watching the trial on TV as a kid but never really having a grasp of what really happened. Paulson’s portryal of prosecutor Marcia Clark was so good it already earned her an Emmy.

I recreated a red carpet look from Sarah Paulson rather than a look from the miniseries itself. And this is a makeup tutorial for beginner’s because I myself am a beginner! I consulted with professional makeup artist Erin Thomas regarding this look. She advised smoky pencil liner and wispy lashes. For me, it was important to grab a peach blush.

Other than the peach blush, smoky black liner and lash glue, I didn’t really have to purchase that many extra items to recreate this look. Before starting this look, I watched a tutorial which advised to use a piece of tape to keep the eyeliner straight and from over-smudging.

I started off completely makeup free which you can see above. My skin has a little natural redness to it and my eyes are fairly small. In case I messed up my eyes and needed to remove it, I started with my eye makeup before I applied my foundation. I first applied .

Next, I used the shade Butterscotch from the Nude Collection Palette from Pure Cosmetics that I got in my . Then I applied Diamond Butterfly from MAC’s Mariah Carey palette, “It’s Everything” along the lid. I blended them together with a brush from my new rose gold from Amazon.

With my tape still in place diagonal along the eye line, I applied Wet ‘n Wild  and I used the smudge tool to make it smokey. I’m used to wearing liquid liner so I added just a little liquid liner for more definition. I blended it all in with an eye shadow brush. I have naturally bushy eyebrows (an Italian blessing and curse). Paulson’s brows are naturally thinner (or at least shaped smaller) than mine so I just shaped mine up with the .

After I completed my eye shadow, I applied my foundation, MAC’s Studio Tech followed by  powder for a matte finish. Next, I used in pearlescent pink generously on the apple of my cheeks and a little Colourpop in Flexitarian.

The last steps to complete my Sarah Paulson inspired SAG Awards beauty look for beginner’s was to add lashes and a nude lip. I have yet to master how to apply my own lashes so I had my best friend help me apply  to a set of in #128. I don’t wear lashes unless I’m having my makeup done so I’m definitely a beginner in this realm but I think these added just enough drama to mimic Paulson’s look.

Paulson’s lips are a glossy beige but I decided to go for a more matte finish mostly because I already owned a similar shade. I used and a Colourpop  in Chi.
