If you’re like me, winter brings more than cooler temps; it also brings the struggle to find a pair of boots that you can zip past your ankles. I’ve shed more than a few tears of the years trying to find wide calf boots that actually fit. But retailers are getting hip to our . This season there are so many good wide calf boot options that I wanted to share my favorite picks with you.
Shopping for Wide Calf Boots
When you’re shopping online for wide calf boots, you need to know your calf measurement. The best way to do it is to get a and measure your calf at its widest part. For reference, my calf is 19″ which sizes me out of a few options. In addition to checking the calf circumference prior to buying, also make sure to look at the store’s return policy. I recently was gifted a pair of awesome thigh-high boots that I couldn’t get past my ankles and I had to pay to send them back. Because of their size and weight, shipping boots can be costly so it’s always a good idea to check the return policy.
It’s also important to look for fabric content and see whether or not the boots zip or slip-on. I know that I can push the calf measurement if the boots have a stretch panel in the back as opposed to a zipper.
